I don't know the proper term for it, but I noticed that the wedges on my good recurves have the wedge taper on the bottom side of the limb. How do you make the form if it is not flat in the wedge area? It is hard to describe, but it is the opposite of the way Bingham shows it, opposite of the way it is in Bradford's build along photo of the lay up.
I make my form using a wedge like that. What I did was make top piece of my form the piece you put all the lams on, made it flat for the flat side of the wedge and the bottom piece is where I put the air hose and pressure strip.
The fit on the air hose end doesnt have to be as precise, just the general shape to give a good glue up.
Make a convex form instead of a concave one, would be my humble suggestion. Bue--.

Bue has the right idea. You build a convex form where the back of the limb rests against the form and the air hose is still on top. All my take down forms are built this way. It's much easier to bend lams around a bend than to force them down into a concave form.
I use zipties to hold the lams against the form. To me the top piece was easier to handle on a recurve to get the lams and glass down on the form. But I see what you guys are talking about and to each his own.
Just be sure that if you use the zip ties that once you get some light pressure on the hose, cut and pull them out or you'll ruin the lay up.
Like Bue sez build your form so that the bottom (the part you layup on) is the front of the limb. Then with the wedge upside down the air hose will conform to it when inflated.
I think you build your form to have recurve going other way. eather curve going up or curve going down.bottom form only you need air hose on top.

I get the whole convex thing. I guess you have to design the form so that the butt end is lower than the tip end so you can index the lams without sliding forward.
Bue, I only meant the hose would be on the bottom after you lay up, inflate and flip the form to look normal...same thing as a convex form
That's what I do beach.. I lay it up with the "top" piece sitting down on the bench and ziptie my lams down,lay the heat/pressure strips and hose on the form, then put the "bottom" piece on, bolt down and flip it.
Then remove the zip ties and bake

Oh and I use a butt stop on teh form to keep the wedge from sliding, but once you put the zip ties on... I start from the butt of the wedge, then one at the fade and work my way down to the tips.. nothing slides.
