Title: Antique Archery pics
Post by: Biff on February 22, 2008, 10:54:00 PM
A few weeks ago I bought this Old Fleetwood feather trimmer off the Internet. You know,"that place". The nostalgia was killing me. I had bought one 56 yrs. ago when I was 10. When I recently received it, the original box and instructions were with it! As I stared at it I could remember all the arrows I fletched, burning them to shape, stinking up the house till my mother ran me out to the garage. Thought some of you might enjoy seeing it. Does anyone have a picture of the old "clamp" type fletchers? I think Fleetwood also sold them. Kitredge Bowhut dream book! Biff

Pretty simple design. The coils up top take enough resistance to keep the thing from shorting out the household circuit. Biff, did you ever forget  that that was not a handle !! Of course you would never be able to sell that today w/o several plastic covers and insulators for the bare wires and such.

Big Al brought this relic from the past by the other day. He said he won it in an archery tournament a zillion years ago, Al is in his 70s. He said" can you sell this for me". I guess he thought it might have some collector value.

These things were used back when men were men, no fancy climbing rigs or sissy safety belts.

Flinttim- I know what you mean! I never picked it up hot, but I tried to remove a burning piece of feather once, grabbed the wire instead, got branded! Biff

Thanks for posting this.  I had one of these way back when also and the smell of the burning feathers killed me!  It is great how looking at these old tools and such can bring back the memories, and, **** is a good place to look even if you are not bidding.

Kingstaken- Haven't sold mine. I don't intend to use it,I've got most of the choppers I need. But it might make a good paper-weight! Biff
