Title: Chittamwood Done meet "Lumpy" pics & Shooter Video
Post by: coaster500 on December 25, 2011, 03:04:00 PM
Well here's "Lumpy" #5 all dressed up and ready to do something? 64" 54@27. This was an experience for me to work a stave that was not so perfect and deal with it's problems and the one I created getting to aggressive with the grip and having to do a glued up handle using the almost black Poplar I used on the tips. I also used a piece of it on the riser for a rest and left the riser with out a wrap. I stained it with sample packs of Espresso Stain from Home Depot and sprayed it with Spar. I steel wooled it with OOO to take the shine off. The bow shoots very smooth with very little stack for its weight and I pull it to the 27" mark. It's almost as fast as my Hackberry but much smoother drawing at almost the same weight.

Anyway fire away if you see something that needs to be done different....  Thank you for the help and encouragement in the process...

Finished #5

I'm pretty happy with it. It came out better than I thought it was going to. Shoots plenty hard for me but more than that it is extremely smooth drawing and I hit where I look....

Thank you Jamey, Shawn, David for encouragement you're all great and without the people here on "The Bowyer's Bench" I'd be struggling a lot more than I am  :)

I'm trying to figure out what to do next... I've got some Yew? Got some Osage but still needs to dry more....  Hmmmmmmmm  :)
