Would you believe we were all new at this at one time!  Some of us had someone to take us under their wing, some just learned on their own.  You have, thanks to the Internet, a chance to talk to bow hunters with a lot of experience, even though they may not be close to you.  Don't be afraid to ask questions, the members here will be glad to help you.
Good luck.

I have to agree with Goose.  Given the existence of a site like this with so many talented people, willing to help in any way they can, I believe we may be in the golden age of traditional archery.  Welcome aboard and have fun.

None of us knows everything, but between us all I'm pretty sure that we are close!

My advice, start light, and take your time.  Its not as easy to get the hang of as a compound, but is much more rewarding.

Welcome to a new addiction.  ;)

No such thing as a dumb question.
Im just over a year into trad, and Im making arrows, shooting well, knapping, making quivers, and tinkering with bow staves a bit. Learned it all here. Everyone is more than willing to lend a hand, so ask away!

Pick up a few books on trad bowhunting like Traditional Bowhunter's Manual by T. J. Conrads.  If you don't already do so, subscribe to Traditional Bowhnunter magazine.  Will save you a lot of time.  Good luck.

It`s all about having fun. If you are having fun, the new skills you need to learn will come easier.

Shooting MUST be comfortable, to be enjoyable. Too much draw weight will increase the length of time it takes for you to learn what works for you.

That brings us back to how it`s all about having fun.

Here`s to you... a New Hunter.

P.S. I`ve been at it a while, and sometimes I still have no idea what I`m doing either.  :D
