wipe-on polly is good, requires a little work, apply 4-6 coats, sanding between coats to get a hard glass like finish. Krylon Crystal spray if you don't want to do much work, Makes a very nice durable finish with little effort.

Ive built bows for about 12-15 years. Used both fullerplast and thunderbird with good results. Ive tryed polys and auto finishes also. They all work. Just experiment and find what you like. Ive been using fullerplast lately because it dries quick and I like the look.

I've use ML campbel Krystal and true oil, but am going to start using Thunderbird. The Krystal is easy to use but not durable enough for me.

I really like Thunderbird; it is a very tough finish.  2 coats of gloss and then a final coat of flat is my standard finish.  Just put the last coat on one tonight.  One of these days i will do all gloss, the stuff is really shiny.

I used to us a Paasche airbrush but now use a $14 touch-up sprayer I bought at Harbor Freight.  It works great and the price is just silly.  I have found that I like about 25psi or maybe even a little lower than that.

Hey T Folts, is the Thunderbird a 2 part finish like the Krystal. I have used the Krystal on a few board bows I have done and plenty of cabinets in my shop and really liked it.

I ordered the gallon size kit of thunderbird today I am really impressed with the customer service I got from them. I have a nice touch up sprayer so thank you for the insight guys.
Thunderbird has three parts an epoxy and a finish that you mix and let stand for 30 minutes then you add the thinner and spray away. It dries really good from what I am told on exotic oily woods if you just use some acetone before finishing to draw out the oils. Then spray it the chemical reaction helps the drying process

There is a rumor going around that Thunderbird Endurance Epoxy finish is no longer available.  I want to let you know this rumor is false:  I have a lot of stock on hand and two different manufacturers to continue the exact same formula as before.  Biggest change with Thunderbird is the phone number. ATT killed the 812 847 1995 number but you can order from web or from 812 699 1099.
