Title: help guys my riser slid?
Post by: aric on April 02, 2011, 09:33:00 AM
I glued up a r/d longbow last night and i realized this morning that my riser had moved about a half inch twords one side. it stayed square because of my washers and all my glue lines look good ,no gaps etc. my question is this if i lay this bow out at my center mark on my riser i will have a limb that is one half inch shorter internaly. what would you guys think would be my best option to make this bow shoot well with positive tiller on the bottom limb. i realize the shorter limb will be stiffer but is there a way to compinsate for the difference. i was thinking that i could thin the stiffer limb and sand down some glass to get it close.

Get a measurement at your riser fades and at the end of the shortest limb. If the fade measures are close I would shorten the longer limb to match it to the other one-you can tiller from there.

im thinking that would take care of the subtle differences in reflex and deflex also

Is there a big difference with those measurements? If not you probably won't have any problem/challenges.

so i cleaned up that blank and i found my center line on the bow by mesuring the riser to the ends of the fades. after taking mesurements from the fade tip to the limb tips the difference is about three sixteenths.
