Man those are great! I would love to see that second one with an equally nontypical mate come walking towards my stand.
Dang Bob,that 2nd one is crossed with a caribou!! LOL
Nice ones, haven't been yet! Find most of mine from the tractor anyways!
those are some beauties
i thought id share this matching set of sheds nthat whitebuffalo mounted for me this year....
these were found 50 yds apart...one was sticking out of a brushpile and the other was right directly on a heavy used trail in the snow...both were found in a stand of pines

Great looking sheds Bob. I haven't had any luck yet.
I went to a seminar called Antler Dogs on Saturday. The man was promoting the dogs that he has trained to hunt sheds. Pretty cool dogs. I didn't bother to ask the price for a trained dog.
Antlerdogs.com is the web site. He operates out of Smithville, Missouri.
now thats one fine piece of woodwork
I've found 2 but after the first post why bother posting them. Those are awesome sheds!!
I've been out twice now, but haven't found any just yet!!!
The snow is covering the sheds right now,but i have seen 5 racked bucks this week.
I've been out three times this year and found one shed under a cedar tree from last year. No freshies yet, but it won't be long.
I just got a bunch of pics of some 8 pntrs (racks still on) last week on the trailcam. I've pokled arounsd a bit while checking the cams but haven't had enough time to go on a real shed hunt
Nice sheds!! I haven't been able to get out yet but hope to soon. Thanks for posting the pics.
I vote that this becomes the "official" thread for sheds found this year
Saw a nice 150ish buck yesterday. Should be about 50/50 about now though.
Hickstick, what part of MA are you from? I grew up in South Hadley.
This may be a silly question, but do most sheds just fall of when ready, or do they typically get hung up and come off. I've found them in the middle of bean stubble fields, and next to beds. But I have also found them in thick brush. Only have one small one this year, but have seen several half racked bucks recently.
they fall off Matt, though they can be "made" to fall off a bit prematurely
fence crossings are good places to find drops, the jar of the landing can dislodge them
It's been too cold for me to get after very hard yet, but here's a couple "as found" pics.

matt...I have seen people make 'shed traps' most involve a pile or bucket of food with some kind of rope contraption above it (the idea is the bucks stick there head in to get the food, the antlers get tangled in the rope and pop off. I'm not sure I like the idea, 'what if the antler doens't want to come off, and the buck is now sitting there tangled up in your contraption?'
I also think it takes away from the 'fun' of the hunt for them.

Here's my first one for me this year. I didn't have to "hunt" it. It was laying under our bird feeder the other night when I went to fill it. :)
Shovelbuck, I love the pictures as they lay. Make me want to go out now!

another contraption is to stretch chicken wire across some 2x4s used as a frame then lay it on the ground anchor it and pour corn over it,,never done it but have heard of it working
found 2 Feb.4 covered several miles last week and found none still seeing bucks with racks.
Haven't found many...here's a few i found early this year on public ground.

Drew,
Those bottom two are neet looking.
I've been waiting for this guy to drop. When this post came up originally he was still carrying. Found the right side two weeks ago. The left today about 400 yds. from the first. He'll go just under 150" as a 4x4. Gonna be looking hard for him this fall!

That'll be a good one Gun,hope you get a chance at him!!
This one is a 3yr. old 135" class 5 point. I have his left side from last year. He needs another 2 yrs. Hope he makes it! Still a foot of snow away from the spruce trees.

Found three sheds sat. walking back from a coyote calling stand- no coyotes but a 3pt. , 4pt., and 6pt.shed with forked brows.Going to my best spot as soon as I turn off computer!!Good luck everyone!!
The shed season started out great, now i'm on a huge dry spell.
Anyone train their dogs to find em? A local DNR biologist has trained his and finds some nice sheds. Said he's heard of good antler fetching dogs going for $5K...
I found 5 yesterday. All right sides. You just know that I walked by their opposites.....DAVE
(http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/100_0120.jpg) Leatherneck and myself found these today.
(http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj10/longbowben/100_0123.jpg) Here are more that we found today,Thats 22 sheds found so far.
That Rocks...Good find..
Dang - We still have 6" of snow! Maybe tomorrow I'll head south for the day.
Our snow has been gone for a week and a half now,I hope its gone for the year.
Had a good day of shed hunting yesterday. I found 4 sheds in about 15 minutes a big 4pt, a forkie and then a matched set from a nice 8pt. My oldest son found a spike and my youngest found a small chewed up shed from last year. I was on cloud nine considering I've only found 3 sheds my whole life. All were found within 200 yards of one of my food plots.
Bob those are nice sheds. Haven't been out this year looking for sheds. If your bowhunting the area you found those in good luck.
