Thinkin' about tryin' to make me a selfbow. Anybody use a floor tillered stave kit?
Don't cheat yourself. Dive head first and do allthe work yourself. It ain't hard. Hell, if I can do anyone can. There is plenty of help and lots of good instructor here to help you on the way.
The first selfbow I made was from a floor tillered stave kit I bought at the TN Classic last year. It turned out fine but I went and cut and peeled and split my own hickory and am working on it now and I have to say its a lot more fun this way. If your like me I take a lot of sentimental value in things that you do yourself and even though the one I'm working on now is a long way from finished I like it more than my other one. I say go cut you a tree
From what I have heard the kits can be a good option, if that is the way you want to go. I agree with Hunter and D, if you can do the whole shebang yourself, much greater satisfaction. However don't let anyone else force you to something you are not comfortable with. Do what makes you happy and enjoy the ride.
P.S. If you do a kit I bet you will be shaving a stave within six months. :)

Well, I know I won't be cuttin' any trees down. Where's a good place to get a hickory stave? Thanks for the replies.
I have several good beginner bow blanks if you are interested in osage. $130 shipped.
