looking to build a youth bow for a 4-6 year old with red oak board from home depot.  What are the dimensions / length do I need?  Maybe 48" long?

I generally go 48" long, 1" wide and 3/8 thick for real little ones like 4-6 yr olds.

Take a 1/4"x2"x4' straight grained board with a glue on handle works wonders for kids bow.

Pyramid taper.  Almost self tillered.

3/8" wide tips, straight taper from the handle is fine.
