If you meant mnt. lion go to  www.biggamehoundsmen.com. (http://www.biggamehoundsmen.com.)  There is a wealth of hound knowledge on there.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are great dogs. They are known for baying up African lions and holding them for the hunter. It doesn't always go their way though.
They are very intelligent, pack oriented, dogs. You can find lots of infomation about them from the rhodesian ridgeback club of the united states website.

If your talking about mountain lions the above mentioned dogs would be worthless. Check out Full Cry magazine and Monster Muleys website it has a varmint and big game hound section. Alot of houndsman live in Montana and the best thing to do is befriend one and learn the ropes by tagging along. Big game hounds and lion hunting is not a hobby it is a lifestyle and you have to dedicate yourself to it to be any kind of a success. If you do get into it don't get suckered into buying a bunch of mongrel hounds in the free to $1000 price range. A good trained hound could cost thousands. I had my best luck buying pups from reputable houndsman and training them myself and showing them alot of game by tagging along with good houndsman. In the west the Blue or redtick hound along with the black and tan coonhound seem to be the best, with the black and tan being good with the family too. You will want to check out a book by a guy in Montana named Dale Cameron on hound hunting and get affiliated with the Montana Houndsman association. Good luck.

I am not an expert on this , but I am not sure that I would call a Ridgeback worthless from what I have heard. I owned one many years ago , tho I did not use him for hunting.

Thanks, everyone. I should have been more specific I meant mt. lion. I do have some bowhunting pals with friends who are houndsman or know some, I do plan on tagging along with them and picking their brain a little. I just wanted some info. in the meantime.
                           Thanks Again, Phil
