I've had a bamboo backing for about a year now and I'm wanting to put it on some Ipe. Does anybody know where I can get some Ipe?? I've went to my local exotic wood store and they can it but since its mostly used for decks they can only get big orders. They wont order individual boards. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The Hardwood Store of North Carolina carries single ipe boards and will ship anywhere. Really nice people there, give them a try. I have purchased hickory backing from them also, you must specify the width and thk. and they will cut to suit.

IPE is nice wood, just make sure to wear protection from the dust. It sure messed me up for 3 months.

What did it do to ya? Just curious. Yew dust affects my lungs and sinus. But IPE never bothered me, but broke out a nieghbor from the oils.

My eyes were swollen almost shut and my face and neck looked like I fell into a fire. Then I continued to have skin irritation for months after that. Ended up having to change laundry detergents and use dove soap to shower. Dermatologist said that once you get a bad reaction like that, it can weaken your immune system and make you sensitive to things that never bothered you before. We used the same laundry detergent for 15 years, switched to a dermatologist approved detergent and all my skin irritations went away.
My wife calls me her dainty little flower now:) But I went crazy for months till we found out what was wrong. I had a rash all over my face, neck, chest, back, and arms, and could not stop scratching. I looked like I had chicken pox.

Thats crazy. Cocobolo really irritates my nose. I hate that for you, no joke. I remodel houses for a living and I'm around a lot of drywall dust and several several several sinus infections later I learned to always wear a respirator. Anytime I'm doing anything that involves the slightest about of dust I wear a respirator. Guess I'm a dainty little flower too. haha But I enjoy being able to breath at night when I'm trying to sleep.
