I've read somewhere that spine doesn't matter with flu flu's and spiral fletch. Was wondering if this was true?

I make most of my flu flus from arrows I wouldn't hunt with for some reason or arrows that the point broke of. Some of them are quite stiff but the drag the flu flu creats straightens them out quicker and they seem to fly pretty good.

I use spiral fletch on my FluFlu arrows and I use the culled shafts to build them. They all seem to fly good and are fun to shoot

What about too light of spine seems to me it would make it worse with extra weight in the back?

mag : i have a couple flu flu done up , and i dont think the weight is really an issue. the drag created slows mine down in less than 20 yards.
and they literally fall out of the air after that...

I shoot 65-70 spine flu flus from all my bows regardless of draw weight, they fly like darts all the same.

I'm mainly concerned with shafts that under spine. I too use old hunting shafts that get short and what not but have a bunch that are weak. Was thinking small game shafts but don't want to hurt a bow or myself when using spirals or flu flu's. Thanks!

Make one and try it out. It only take a minute or two to spiral wrap a flu flu arrow.

I would avoid weak spines, mostly because loading the back of the arrow up with heavy feathers will further weaken it. Just my 2 cents. I chose 65-70 spine because they are tough and heavy.

I make up alot of flu flu arrows every year. I make the shafts myself. Have found that the weak spined shafts wobble alot and just don't seem to work good. Use a heavier spined shaft and they will ork great.

i was thinking about this today , and if you have a couple around , and youre not planing on using them , why not plane down two sides , glue 3 or 4 (or 6 for hex shafts) together , then plane all the excess off , back to round.
check spine along the way.
you could also make yourself some short-draw arra's at 20" or so. i hear major shortening makes up for low spine.
and dont worry , i havent cut my bunny killers down yet , they are still mostly 36". shot through em yesterday , and compared to the 3/8 dowels , these things are like tiny darts . i may or may not shorten them up...

I am just going through a bunch of seconds I have and trying to make the most of them. Some I can use some I'll have to save for the family. They'll be able to use them before long. Thanks for all the advice!
