Title: wet bow
Post by: gilbarbarian on December 20, 2010, 09:48:00 PM
I had a 61# osage self bow that I have shot for almost a year. Then I went hunting in the rain, now it is a 50# bow.  I am assuming not having any kind of weather proofing is the reason.  is this true?

if you shot it wet , id say you might have caused some set...

It should dry back out and unless you added set, your weight should come back up. If it is still wet clamp it down in reflex and give it a month to dry. If you haven't sealed the bow, go ahead and seal the back or it might check. Leave the rest unsealed so the moisture can escape.
