Just recently I purchased a Chefs Choice elecrtric knife sharpener for sharpening fillet, hunting, kitchen knives, etc. And wondered If I could Sharpened my Stingers with it.All I did was remove the main blade assembly from the furrele and use needle nose pliars to hold the blade assembly,a few passes in the Chefs Choice sharpener and you've got a rzor sharp edge in seconds. If you havn't used a Chefs Choice sharpener before, you should try one. They are a little pricey but worth every penny.I'm not trying to promote the Chefs Choice sharpener in any way,I just thought it might help some of you out.
Sounds like a good idea. I've always used a plain old Accusharp handheld sharpener. I carry one with me in the field, and I can put a shaving edge on my broadhead in about five strokes, usually. The cost about 10 bucks at Wally World, and they last several years before the teeth wear out. Work great on knives too, but they don't do much for 3 blade heads, the jaws aren't wide enough for them to get in...
What about a diamond stone sharpener? That is what I have been using this year and it seems to work well. I like the idea of having something in the field though.
I like the accusharp because it's just as portable as a file, and it takes no experience to use it. You simply place it on the tail of the blade and drag it towards the point using light pressure. Four or five strokes and it will shave.
