What is the best boweyer book to begin with in making a self bow?
-
Paul Comstock's The Bent Stick. Jawge

I second Jawge's reccomendation and I also reccomend Dean Torges' book "hunting the Osage Bow" as well as all four volumes of the bowyers bibles.

I liked the traditional bowyer series...I loved Comstock's book but I tell you I learned more from sites such as this and jawing with the bowyers here than in any two books combined. If I had to pick ONE book though I would go with Comstock's book...mine is beat to heck and in another guys hands now teaching the next generation.

My vote is read the bent stick by paul Comstock and then build a whitewood bow.

"The Bent Stick" by Paul Comstock!!! After that I can name a long list of books that will help you on your journey.
My next choice for wood bow building info is George's site! Lots more than just bows too.

Yep, what these guys have said! Once you dive head first into your first, you can look towards the Tradtional Bowyers Bible series.
