Title: Limb bolt bushing help
Post by: Dmaxshawn on October 11, 2010, 04:56:00 PM
I need some help from the bench on this one guys.  I'm in the process of putting together another 3 piece longbow and I epoxied the limb bolt bushings in and wiated for them to set up and dry and I think its canted a little and the bolt wont screw in.  So I tried to screw in the bolt without the limb and it wont even screw in.  I checked and theres no glue or anything in the way.  So what are my options?

Can I re tap the bushing and see if the interior threads are burgered and clean them up so bolt will thread?

Or should I try to back it out and insert a new bushing?

Or is the riser now trash?

thanks Shawn

I would go with your first option, retap the bushing and see if the interior threads are burgered and clean them up so bolt will thread?

I must have gotten a batch of bad ones from where I ordered.  So shame on me for not checking from now on I am going to re tap before it goes into the riser.

I got it re tapped and the limbs mounted thanks for the input guys.

Didn't you have a screw locked in the bushing when you screwed it into the riser?

I did but not all the way in like the directions say.  Its been a while since I built one and I had misplaced the notes.
