Have been getting a lot of help here on these due to getting vertical splits. Was told to use rawhide to back but don't have any. Is there anything at Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot I could use. If not where can I order enough rawhide to do two bows. Thanks, Don

Several of the sponsors here have rawhide backing strips.
I don't think you'll find anything of any worth a wally world or the other places you mentioned.
Try The nocking point in the sponsors list or Pine hollow to name a few. Good luck and let's see some pics.

Checked out the two sources. I will have to find something a little less pricey. I can't spend 24.00 a pair right now. I don't have 24.00 in both bows :D . May just have to hope they don't blow with no backing. Thanks, Don

If you can find the biggest rawhide bone for a dogs chew toy you can soak in warm water overnight and they will unravel it takes two for one bow.
I've done it it works well.

Go to your local cloth store and buy silk or linen cloth. As a matter of fact you can get both pretty cheap at the local thrift store as neck ties and ladies blouses.

I have 13 vertical cracks in one of my osage bows, all filled with super glue and holding fine for the last 5 or 6 years.

I get my rawhide at the local western wear/Equestrian store. You can also check tandy leather.

Thanks guys, I am house hunting today and may go to a city where I can find something. I really appreciate the help. Don

Eric, I filled the ones in my bows with super glue. I just want a little insurance :D . Don

Use Brown paper, like lawn bags, glue on with TBB3.
