No not the new grandson weighing over 10 pounds, not at all.Whats been bugging us,is what in the heck is this 96 year old guy haveing a bow restored for??? and whats even worse???? you guy's gotta help me out here. Why would he need a 71# bow restored.Where would a man 96 go with a 71 pound bow??? help me out here.bowdoc
Hunting? For his grandson? For the memories?
Maybe he wants to drop down a little in bow weight for next season.
Got his hands on some HGH!! :jumper: No seriously maybe its gonna be a handed down to someone. Or maybe that bow has some serious history behind it. Joe
Perhaps Mr. St.Charles is looking for a little more speed, kinetic energy, and momentum than his 70# bow is capable of generating.
I'm guessing that bow is very special to him...or has one heck of a story behind it!
Best of luck on the restore, and congrats on the grandbaby!!!
My guess is; You will finish it, he will look it over and tell you what a great job. Then sign it and hand it back to you. Then tell you to hand it on down to your Grandkids.
maybe he's going to autograph it and put it in the St Judes auction?
I was thinking he was thinking on sneeking up to the Delta once more........bowdoc
Brewmeister, I'm thinking cause the two of you have been so close over the years that's he just trying to help you out...be it the work (as if you needed more) or passing something on that you can help make even more special...the other Doc
I suspect the 85#'r he's been shooting lately is becoming a bit too much and therefore he thought he'd drop down a weight or two. :biglaugh:

"No not the new grandson weighing over 10 pounds, not at all".
Hello? A 10+ pound grandson! I hope mom is doing OK! That's Pope & Young!
Do the bow, and I'm sure you will do one of your fantastic jobs. It may be for a great fund raising project.
Good luck.
Goose
Bowdoc, he obviously values this bow very much. He also values your skill in restoration!
Congratulations on the new born! We were blessed with our first recently and are having so much fun watching him as he changes and grows. He is 6wks old and still isn't 10lbs!
Congrats all the way around Doc! Glenn is one heck of a fine dude & I'm sure he has plans for that bow.
Where is he going to go with a 71# bow at the age of 96?
Heck, anywhere he wants to!
Well if he did it just to 'mess' with your mind; he did a great job of it :biglaugh:
No problem I can clear this all up. When finished and after he has signed it. It is suppose to be shipped to my work address  PM for my address to forward it to :jumper:
And congrats on a keeper!!!!!!!
Got the PM with the work addie OK hormoan and Glenn said for me to go ahead and ship the bow out to you if I wanted....He also was wondering if you had my room ready,he said something to the affect of... I will most likely not be able to return to Seattle once we do this....talk soon bowdoc
:biglaugh: Less rain here, more snow though :D
Bowdoc-When finished,Man Law goes into effect------------------Bone :bigsmyl:

Ok that worked finaly, yeah I know. But what would take a normal person 20 minutes to do on a puter...takes me 20 days. There she is 71#'s of bone busten Bear Kodiak. Please note the wrappings? Those are actuly Italian leather laces spaced even on both limbs and glued down..delaminated??? nope not at all.The beast actuly scales 75# did the laces add the extra 4 pounds or is it just a case of the normal Bear bow, which 70-80% scale over the marked weight anyhow???? pretty cool bow huh? bowdoc
Did the restoration include adding a heavy rubber cap to one end of the bow ? You can use something like that for a crutch or walking stick.
Maybe it is one of his old bows and he wants to look at it on the wall in its pristine state. Be a great thing to look at and reflect upon.

Way cool Don...even cooler where it came from. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Maybe Papa Bear gave it to him in their younger years.
"...if bows could talk, the stories they could tell...."
Wow! Look at the reflex in those limbs!! What an honor to be trusted with the job.
I wonder if it could be the original bow he took on his first trip to the delta.
Either way that is just awesome.
Snag..I say that bow could fill several books if it could talk..WOW
That's really neat! I wouldn't ask too many questions, just do it for the honor and see what happens from there.
Of course I would have to ask about the wrappings and if it added any weight.
Thanks for sharing and please keep us informed.
Robert
Don, I hope you take the time to realize the place in History Glenn and you both have. Most of us will soon be forgotten, but Glenn will live on for generations, and someday somebody will look at that bow and ask, "Who was this Don Ward guy?" "He sure did fine work!"
Shooooot!!!!
You ain't gonna believe the stuff I'm gonna do when I'm 96!!!
Fitting, very fitting.
Congrats on the exciting week!
Thanks everyone, the new grandson is great and doing fine.I also wanted to thank you all for the kind words on getting the bow restoration from Glenn....and a few of the other ideas you guy's came up with, like he's dropping down in draw weight!!!more speed, heavier arrow weight!!!I think your onto something here....96 year old dude and a 75# 52 year old bow...huuuummm,bd
Well the bow is a youngster for him TRB.
Sounds to me, Don, like he's not planning on checking out anywhere soon, and that's good for all of us. I'm glad I had the opportunity to spend time with him and get it on film. He's a good feller' and a heck of a story-teller.
I would be more worried about that 5th best hunting spot you just lost!!!LOL
IMHO he wants to hang it over the fire place and later to be passed on in looking new condition.
dangit..I hope Glenn isn't going to start collecting antique bows again... he already filled one museum...lol!
let see if this is working today (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/71001.jpg)
