Title: Sander belts?
Post by: Don Armstrong on July 22, 2010, 11:12:00 PM
Should I go with the Zirconia or aluminum oxide which is 50% cheaper. Thanks, Don

I think zirc will last longer and is the better investment. I had good luck buying belts from supergrit

Thanks, that is where I'm looking at the belts. The Zirconia is a little over 4.00 a piece and they have the oxide on sale for 1.60 each. Just wondering if they were worth double. Don

I used a 50 grit 6x48 zirc belt to build 6 glass bows, I grind the limbs to the line instead of cutting with a band saw..once I get close to the line I change to a 120 grit zirc belt, the 50 cuts real fast.

I've found Klingspor's to have some good deals.  If you want, check them out:
