Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the new bowyer who bought "Zipper" a year or so ago...how's his work, cust. serv. etc.?
Chad Jones knows him real well. cjones is what you can reach him at here if he doesn't chime in.
I met Bill and Tracy At Comptons last year. Great folks, Excellent craftsmanship, You won't be disappointed. I've got one on my need to have list......soon R.B.
Bill is a great craftsman and bowyer. You will be impressed with all his work; even if Chad is his friend------Mike
Excellent bows.
I've shot a lot of bows over the past 3-4 years. About 6-7 months ago I stumbles into a Zipper extreme and quickly fell in love with it. That bow went to my buddy when I bought a second all bamboo Zipper.
I'm sold on them. Never had a recurve as light in my hand as a Zipper. They're very quiet shooting bows, very pointable, they feel good in my hand. A new one will cost you hundreds less than a comparable bow from other top dog bowyers.
I've been looking at the ACS's as they come through the classifieds, and in the end I figure my Zipper shoots right with them as far as speed/shootability and for several hundred less.
Sup Conan! Whar you been?
Zippers don't crank my tractor like Morrisons but they sure are nice bows. Fit and finish are excellent in the models I've seen, great shooters/performance. I've never done business with the bowyer but there's some nice stuff coming out of his shop.
and if you like a lighter feeling bow, a Zipper is hard to beat. I have finally switched to longbows for good....but if I shoot a recurve, its a Zipper for so many reasons mentioned above and more.
My Zipper has been with me since 1989 and was taken on every major big game hunt Ive ever done.
I know Bob spent a great deal of time working with Bill before he turned over the company and the new bows I have seen are a perfect match to Bob's careful craftsmanship.

My Zipper was made by Bob Thompson but in speaking to Bill recently he is a really nice guy standing behind his product. He is a very knowledgeable bowyer and Ive yet to hear anything negative on his bows. The dude that sold me mine has begged me to sell it back but I just let him cry and I dont even feel guilty.Awesome bows.

classic !
Thanks for all the information guys. Good to hear so many positive things. Been "lurkin" mostly JC...sneaking up on retirement :D and getting ready to seriously chase some critters. Hope you're well!!
Mine was made by Bob but I know Bob and if he blessed off on Bill, then he is the real deal. Bob would never give his consent if he didn't think Bill would have carried on the name that he worked so long to build.
I've met and talked to Bill and Tracy a handful of times and they are great folk. Couldn't be nicer or more willing to work with ya to get what you want. Zipper's will stand up against anything out there as far as performance and they are also super quiet. Heck, they look pretty darn good too! My buddy told me I am never allowed to sell mine until he gets first crack at it. Somehow I think he is crap out of luck because I'm never selling that bow!

That's a good one right there!
I love my Zipper Extreme. It's my go to bow.

Bought one from them last year at Compton's. Right now it is my favorite bow. Smooth and quick enough. It just seems to fit, and throws alot of different arrow combinations well.
I just bought a set of limbs from Bill a couple of months ago. He just lives about 40 minutes away. Bill is as humble and as classy as a guy can be. He'll talk to you all day long about making bows and huntin and such. The limbs I bought are just beautiful. Fantastic finish and workmanship. Excellent performance as the bow is a quick and quiet as can be.
I'd do business with him again in a heartbeat.
