Title: A computer in the shop?
Post by: fish n chicks on March 05, 2010, 10:50:00 AM
We as woodsmiths obviously have a lot of tools. And we still always have that tool we just need to have. Be it a band saw, a sander, or whatever your shop lacks.

But how many of you have computers in the wood shop? My obvious biggest fear is dust containment. I have yet to see a dust collection system that took out every particle of dust in the shop and neatly packed it away, so I was wondering if anybody else has approached this idea with some victorious results.

There are covers that fit over a desktop keyboard that would prevent anything from getting in the keys, however i dont know about protecting the tower with the hard drive.  They also have rubber keyboard covers for laptops and they work pretty well (a couple of my friends have them) but i still dont think that either of those would keep ALL of the dust out as sawdust is pretty hard to contain.
Hope this helps
