I think I did the stupidest thing I have ever done yesterday. I was at the Bass Pro catalog outlet yesterday and they had a very slightly damaged Martin Hatfield Hunter takedown recurve for sale for $250.00. It had 2 small chips at the base of the top limb below the takedown screw, and one small scratch on the bottom limb. I could have bought it but put it back down because it was 50# @28 and because I broke both bones in my wrist less than 4 months ago I can barely pull my 45# recurve. Also I would have had to let some real bills go unpaid for a little while. I woke up thinking about it this morning and called the store to buy it and it was already gone. Did I do the right thing or am I an idiot?
You did exactly the right thing. Hobby $'s come after the bills are paid. Great deals will come your way again, this was someone else's time.

Gotta get well and gotta pay your bills before you go out and buy toys. I am not gonna ever call you an idiot, but I think it would have been silly to put yourself in the hole to buy a bow. You can get a used bow at any time on our sale forum, many of them for 250 or less and most of them really nice.
Pay your bills, get healthy and then get you a bow.

You did right. Besides the damaged described could mean a future catostrophic failure(at leat keep telling yourself that) :bigsmyl:
Thanks guys. I feel somewhat better. Ive been around gun shops all my life and watched some tremendous deals pass right under my nose. It wasnt a big deal because I always seemed to have empty pockets at the time. This time I had a great deal in one hand and a debit card in the other with the money in the bank(so to speak) and it was a painful decision especially when I got home and told my wife about it and she said "You should have bought it. We would have figured something out." Its great to have a wife like that. I wouldnt trade her for nothing.
You did fine.Just put back a little money at a time for a bow.A better deal will come your way.If you start yourself a savings account tell your wife it is for your bow.Put back $10-$30 a week and you can buy any bow you want at the end of the year.
You did the right thing. I've heard that "you should've bought it or you should have done it" line for twenty five years. If you WOULD have bought it, you probably would have been paying for it long after you "figured something out".
This is not a slam on your wife. You are wise enough to know when to make a sacrifice for both of you and that will go along way in your relationship. Mike
Cabelas in whelling has a martin savana in the bargin cave for 350.50@28 right hand.
There's a reason why you chose wisely!
You can buy a used one later in probably as good shape in the future. Don't lose sleep!
Congratulations, You now belong to a select group of people who think they should pay their bills. Don't expect a lot of company.
you wouldn't like that bow anyway, forget about it.
very good advice,You heard all the right stuff, 10 posts and all on the money, better deals are always out there.
Everything happens for a reason! your not stupid! you listened to your inner self and did what was right. Have faith and your deal will come......vic
You for sure done the responsible thing. You'll forget about that bow in no time.
Save up for a real bow. Something made just for you.
