Title: Bow Form Specs
Post by: D.A. Davis on July 14, 2009, 08:03:00 AM
When building your bow form, do you build it exactly the same width as your parallel and tapers (1 1/2", 1 3/4", and 2", or do you add a little for "wiggle room".  I'm going to be using 1 1/2" material, so does my form need to be 1 1/2", or would it be better to build it at 1 5/8"?

1 1/2 inch wide, you do not want any wiggle room. use search function and you will find a lot of helpful tips on building your form. When I built my form I used a router to get a nice square cut, then I glued a .002/inch taper and piece of .040 fiberglass on top of the form for a nice smooth surface

Look at KennyM's posts and his website. He has a great pictoral of his forms creation.
