Title: Bow Make Up
Post by: Peckerwood on July 10, 2009, 01:44:00 PM
I had some odd bow lams and a roughed riser so I thought I would put them to use. I used  black TransTint ( at Woodworkers Supply) mixed with T-Bird for a finish and snake skins to add color. I think it will make a good blind bow. You can get TransTint in about any color and it mixes with about any product.

2tracks ,The bow is made up of different lam woods(Actionwood, maple ,elm) and the riser is dymondwood. I had these materials laying around the shop and wanted to use them up.

You could use this tint to cover up bad clear glass or any other imperfections. If you didn't want to do the whole bow black , you could tape
off the riser section and just spray the limbs. Sand of  the finish on the side of the limbs and it will look like black glass. Finish with a couple of coats clear.
