ok here is another bow i built. this one i hunt with. it is a hickory backed red oak board bow. its 55 lb and 72 inches ntn. i got the hickory from three rivers and just used tb3 to glue it up. i love making and shooting these things. i think i have the bug. i would like to try a homegard next, can you do that with red oak? let me know what you guys think (http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/stretch2/DSCN0707.jpg) (http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/stretch2/DSCN0708.jpg) (http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/stretch2/DSCN0709.jpg) (http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/stretch2/DSCN0712.jpg) (http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss185/stretch2/DSCN0713.jpg)

Hi, Brandon. We're neighbors, kinda, I'm from UT, too..... I like that bow...
Yes, you can make a red oak Holmegaard. My favorite design in oak was very wide (+ 2") with only a little side taper in the inner bending portion...2/3:1/3 ratio of bending to stiff.. oak needed to be wide and thin there to avoid set..
