don't know of any in particular but if you do a web search of the area for hardwood suppliers, like certain lumberyards that specialize for woodworkers, not for construction, they should have, or be able to get, nearly anythng you may need.  I feel pretty certain there is at least one or two in the greater Milwaukee area.  Madison has at least one if you need to go that far.

Woodeye, I work for a company that makes hardwood mouldings, anything that does'nt meet specs is cut out and tossed, if its 42" we make stickers to pile wood on,  I'm digging in that all the time. The rest gets ground into sawdust at the chipper, another good place to scavange some bow wood. It's free, all I need is a slip saying I can take it home. We can also buy  lumber at company cost. If you know anybody who is in this line of work you could check on that. How about cabinit shops? I live in town with less than a 1000 people, but the 3 main busineses deal with wood, even some exotics. I got it made as far as wood goes.

The Old Master Crafter is in Waukegan, Ill. They run ads in Traditional Bowhunter. I've been there a few times picking out wood. It takes me about an hour and 15 min from Waukesha.
Johns great to work with.

Badger...maybe that is the one I was thinking of.  ooops.  Almost any woodworkers supply shop will have hardwoods.  A lumber store likely will not.

I think you were right Chuck.  There is a wood working store other that Wood Craft.  Wood Craft is in the West Gate shopping center just off Odana and Whitney Way.  I can't remember the name of the other place, but it was off on a back street just south of the beltline somewhere around Fish Hatchery.  They both carry hardwoods.

There is also a Wood Craft store in the Milwaukee suburbs somewhere.  Mayfair Road maybe?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

The Woodcraft comments clicked and I found that there is a store on Hwy 100 in West Allis, just north of the Hale interchange (Hwy 43 and 894), which I drive through everyday on the way to and from work.

I'm thinking I may take taking a little side trip on the commute home tomorrow.

I remember there used to be one closer to deforest off 19??  It was back in a ways on some side roads.  I didn't drive but went there one time with Howard Edwards.  Had an awesome wood variety.

Hey Guys,

Another place I have found is "Badger Hardwoods" in Walworth.  The website says they are open by appointment only on Saturdays.  I'm usually pretty busy but my daughter has dance classes over that way so maybe I can work something out.  I would hate to have somebody open the doors for me to look around and maybe buy one board - but then again we are talking about feeding an addiction here.
