Just put on the masey finish sealer coat. The bow is 66" 30# @ 28". Birdseye maple and paduk riser. Maple core with curly maple veneers. I like paduk!!!

Nice bow Ben. How do you keep the Paduk from smearing into your other woods. When I wipe it down with acetone it gets all over my Osage. :knothead:
-
Okie 1 I use alcohol when I get ready to start sanding and use it to raise the grain. The paduk color does smear to the other wood but I keep sanding it off. Eventually most of the color is washed out of the paduk. I still get a bit of staining on the other wood but it's light enough to be tolerable.

Thanks Ben, that's what I've been doing but thought there might be a better way.

Outstanding!!

Looks great Galen!!

Galen, that is a looker, I cannot wait until my grandkids are at the age where they can hold a bow!
I think it is one of the best gifts you can pass on, archery brings so many good things to the table of character building. Ethics, morals and friendship, way to go Grandpa!

Kevin I agree with you for sure. Want to get this one done because my 2 grand daughters want to go with me to their first 3-D shoot on fathers day. I'm grinning big time thinking about it. You've got great times to look forward to.

Man that is just beautiful! I'd like to see a complete sideways pic of that! Please!

OK here are some more pictures. Still have to sand down the 2nd coat and then spray on a few thin coats of masey but it's looking good so far.

LC I have to admit that this riser style came from a mistake. When I was doing the final shaping of the last fade out I caught it in the sanding wheel and broke it back 1 1/2". So I added some more paduk then some maple to extend the riser back to the correct size. Just kept adding more wood and trim until it was the right size. Didn't know if it would turn out OK but I like how it turned out.

Funny how some "mistakes" turn out that good! My problem is I don't have much wood working knowledge and handles like that just trip my trigger! Great mistake!
