I'm looking for some leather for bow handles where can I find somw scraps?
Thanks

Ranger, I went to the Tandy Leather store in Peoria (on Sterling). She always has a couple big tubs of scraps that you can grab some pieces from and buy them by the lb. I also picked up a few pieces of hair on hide too for arrow shelfs which hold up pretty good.

Thanks, bjansen

While the price isn't as good, you can find bags of Tandy scraps in many craft stores. It's not outrageous; I paid $5 for enough to make several armguards. Belts at thrift stores can be another good source for strips. The ornamental belts that aren't thick enough to be very useful are often just strips of bare leather.

A couple of upholsterers were very generous to me with their scaps.

That unmentionable auction site is always a good source.

Two places come to mind:
1. Let me know what you'd like and I'll send it your way. I have a bunch and have been giving it out for a few years now.
2. There is a guy selling on fleabay who sells 5 & 10# boxes of deer leather scraps very cheap. Excellent stuff. That's where I got some of my stuff 4+ years ago.

I cut the tongue out of an old workboot. My Bear now says "diehard" on the riser. I go through at least one pair of boots a year, that keeps me in leather scraps for most small projects.

just an idea, but i went to a local apolstry shop near my residence, and purchased a good bundle of apolstry leather. such as for couches and chairs . it was very soft but durable leather. i have a peice of it on my current bow. you'll be surprised what they might have, id check it out
