This is my first one piece glass longbow. All I have done so far is take it out of the form, glue the riser overlay on, and clean the edges up. Oh.. and draw the centerline and limb angles.
The riser is cocobolo with two padauk accents bordering bocote. The riser overlay is black glass and cocobolo
The veneers are zebrawood, cores are red elm from KennyM. This is also his design.

Jim,
That is a VERY NICE looking bow. Perhaps someday, I will give this a try myself. Right now, my time is very limited. You should be very proud.......I know that I would be.

Thanks again. This has been the easiest build for me yet. I have several things I need to change on my bow form that will make for better glue lines and ease of lay up. All my mistakes of course. Kenny's template and instructions are a breeze to use. Check out his form build on his website. http://kennyscustomarchery.com/Bow_forms.html
1.I have my metal brackets upside down. They should be attached to the bottom half of the form. This is a pain to get the hose to lay still while trying to get the top half of the form in place. It makes it a 2 person job for sure.
2.My pressure strip is a little thick(1/8" alum from Lowes) This makes it hard to curve into the belly fades for good glue lines. I'm also going to tape the pressure strip down to the center of theriser block with 2 sided tape to ensure it does not slip left and right.
3.I'm also going to make a 66" plexiglass template that is abolutely dead nuts perfect. This will make getting the center line and the limb tapers drawn quicker and more accurately.

Great progress Jim, I like the shape your riser is taking.
-
Lookin sweet Jim!!
Have you shot it yet?
-
Shot it today a couple times before work. Nice smooth draw, shoots where you look.
-

-
I need to pike it, re-file the string nocks then glue the tip overlays on.
-
Got that done today. Length now is about 62" ntn. Haven't weighed the draw weight or measured the length exactly but this is going to be one awesome little blind or treestand bow! Smooth drawing and a great shooter.
Kenny has a great design here that is going to be very sought after I believe!

Got any full draw pics Jim?
-
I'll get one tomorrow. I can't stop shooting it long enough to go get the camera! LOL! :biglaugh:
-
look'n good!!!
-
Got the tip overlays on and narrowed the tips. Here's a full draw pic. I cant my bow so it may look uneven. I need to work on the tiller of the lower limb a bit it is still stiff. Good thing is it shoots even better now.

Great looking bow- what do you expect it to finish out at pound wise and length?
-
Thank you it should be around 50 @ 28" and 62"ish. Gotta get it on a scale and put a put a tape to it.
-
55lbs @ 28" and 61" ntn. Here are the tip overlays.

Love the colors,it'll pop when finished!!
-
Yep I think so! I think this is going to be my go to bow. It shoots everything I put through it even my rivercane arrows!
The group in the pic isn't that good but I had been shooting for about 4 hours at that point. If I follow the basics it shoots like a machine. Very promising.
