Title: tie on fletching
Post by: geno on February 07, 2008, 02:17:00 PM
I tied some fletching on last night for the first time. I did it on my kids arrows. I just used sewing thread. Is there something different you guys use? also do you just do front and back first and finish all three together or complete all seperate? Can you post some pics of your work Thanks
G

Geno, I've done some with thread too, but the thread will wear quick, I'd use artificial sinew, the smaller diameter the better, or even B50. I like to start at the forward edge of the fletching and wraps right on back, and finish up like you would serve a string. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/dlgren/Archery/Arrows/01cb12bb.jpg)

Use dental floss. It is strong and easy to get. Sorry no pics.

I've used silk with success.  I went to a sewing craft store and picked up 2 spools (30' each) for under $10.
