Anybody out there have any simple or imaginative ways of keeping their string?I went to the how-to but couldnt bring up the pics. Thanks
Duct Tape!
Really any little leather pouch with a leather thong will work to hold your sting. You can get fancy and use a bit of elastic sewn to the pouch with a button on the elastic to catch the string loop.
I have bought a couple generic cheapies, and then got one from M.A.L. and for not much more you can get a really, REALLY nice one from Mike's Archery Leather.
I know you want to build your own, but for next to nothin' you can get one of Mike's.
rubber band, daughter's hair tie, etc. - doesn't get more simple than that....
Mikes are a nice "production" grade (meaning store purchased), and a great bargain. I did have problems with them fitting my LB tip. But that is only 1 bow. All in all, his stuff is top notch!!! You want to make your own, a look at the ones they sell in 3-Rivers - might be a good picture for you to work off.

You can see a pic of 2 of Mike's string keepers in my MAL Back quiver thread here: http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=056101
Cut a piece of leather so it looks like a sting ray with a loooooong tail. Fold the "body" in half and sew half way to the tail. I then turn it inside out, but not necessary. Stick the "body" over the end of the bow, run the tail down through your string and bring it back up to the body. Stick it through the hole that I forgot to tell you punch just below the body, and cinch it up. All done.
