Title: Tip Overlays/sinew
Post by: Wyostikbo on April 18, 2009, 09:50:00 PM
Has anybody ever put overlays over the sinew. I used hide glue for the actual sinew and then smoothed out the  back with TBIII. I'm kind of wanting to leave the sinew on the tip to keep it from lifting. But I don't want to weaken the glue by super gluing overlays on. I don't know if TB would be enough for the overlays or not.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thank,s
Brent

I normally don't put the sinew all the way to the tips but I believe you can bevel the sinew, match the overlay and glue it down with hide glue and maybe TB.

Pat, Would you normally use TB to glue on Overlays? In the past I have used super glue, only because that's the advice I got. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Brent

I have used TB glue, super glue(gel and thin) and 2ton epoxy for overlays, all with good results. TB glue is compatible with hide glue and sinew also.
