Title: First succesful Osage selfbow ?
Post by: kodiakkid on March 30, 2009, 07:53:00 PM
Here is what I wound up with from the piece I split off the belly of my stave. It's pulling about 43 @ 27.  The grain turned around a knot a little above center of the handle and it's wound up to be almost center shot. 1" wide tapering to 3/8" tips. I had to heat it to bring one limb in line and to take a bit of propeller twist out of the other limb. I posted a thread asking for help with bending but decided to go ahead and try it. Seems to have worked pretty well. Please feel free to critique my work. Thanks to all for the responses to my post and questions. I could not have done it without ya'll. Paul<><

Nice job.  That is great tiller on a snaky piece like that.

Nice work on that stave. I knew that little snake in there was going to look good. Now get the other half of the stave turned into another bow.

That feels good, doesn't it?  It ought to as that is a fine bow you've made there.
