Nice work its sweet!
Great looking bow Roy!!
Very nice.
Did you stain or dye the boo??
Roy,
You are really getting good at bow building man. It looks great.
Lookin good! Keep up the good work!
Very nice!! Great lookin finish, what did you use?
Looking real good!
The bow is 64 tip to tip, is 51 pounds at my friends 29.5 inch draw. I made it for him. I stained it with Walnut color aniline alcohol base dye, then hit the belly with 0000 steel wool, then put 3 coats of Tongue oil on it. I like Tongue oil for a finish, absolutely no dust when it is finished.
Having so much fun, have another couple Bows started.

When do you start taking orders?
Awesome!!! Can you make a recurve too?
Roy
Very nice bow!!! What is the heigth of your center point ? How much deflex is glued into bow and how from from center do you go out on each limb? Also how much reflex at the tip is used?
I hope Iam not asking to many question, but Iam working on a bow now, just finished tillering and when unstrug the r/d shows , but when bow is braced, the bow goes into a natural arc not showing reflex at the tips like yours.
Thanks Pete
Great looking bows,,Howabout some more detail and a build along,,<<
Cool stuff Roy. Very nice bow! I like the strung profile.
Pete, questions are good things.
I used a 4 inch center post in the center of the handle. The mid-limb posts were 2 3/4 high. The top mid-limb post was centered at 13 inches from the center of the handle. The bottom mid-limb post was centered at 12 5/8th from the center of the handle. I used 6 inch limb tip posts.
The reason the limb tips look the way they do is because of the kerf I cut 8 inches down the limbs from the limb tips. And the first bow above I used Bamboo lams, the second one in progress I used Osage lams. But both should have the same profile. The kerf on both these bows is cut 1/16th thick, if I were to cut it thicker, I would see much more reflex/recurve at the tips. Because a thicker kerf, equals weaker limb tips at glue up, which equals more reflex/recurve.. Meaning the thicker I cut the kerf, the more freely the limb tips will flex when glued up. Ya dig?
Roy great looking bow! I really like that profile.
:clapper:
Next bow I put Buffalo Horn tip overlays on. Should look real sweet.. (http://www.geocities.com/roy2953/bushygirlsbow1.jpg)

Great looking bow!! It looks like you have a small arrow rest which I assume is a small piece of wood. If so, how big is it both length and width?
The arrow rest is made of leather. About 5/16th wide and the thickness of the handle which is about 1 3/4.
Great stuff Roy! ;)
