thought i would say hi to everyone this site has been alot of help. currently have several bows started 2 cedar  yea cedar no knots no pins clear top to bottom about 68inchs about an inch an a half wide. i figure i have the cedar why not, have a couple of elm bows i made last year around 30#  i need to get some real bow string though.... you  would lagh at what i use.lol

You can use silk and count on it if you serve it well. That is what i've used for all my bow strings from 10# to 150# that i use for tillering

Hay when I first started I did the same if was wood and I had it I made a bow from it.LOTS.

Practice,practice,practice seperates bow builders from bowters.

 Funny,I put my heart and soul and hours into it.I strated out to be a bowyer but ended up being a hunter that builds bows.Ones path has many turns in it.
