Hey guys,

Can you guys point me to a source for rawhide backing.

I've got a stave that I want to back and need some "hide" to do it.

not sure but you might give Moscow Hide and Fur a try....in Moscow Idaho...Doug in Westcliffe CO.

i buy whole hides from moscow hide and fur  but if you just need enough for 1 bow i can probly help ya out as iv got a bunch cut    shoot me a p m brock

elkshooter forgot to mention  the hide i have is deer also  and i do have some goat  brock

I read somewhere, I think it was maybe in one of the Trad. Bowyers' Bibles, that you can use one of those very large rawhide dog chews that look like a gigantic bone. I believe the author soaked them in water for a day or two and unwound them and then used them for rawhide backing. I know I read it somewhere, but not for sure where. Anybody else ever read about this?
