Ok guys just got my first longbow last week (been shooting recurves a couple years though) and im pulling the same weight with my longbow as i am with my recurve (53#) and my arrows just arent shooting right. They are GT 3555 with 125 grain head. What can i do to fix this? Any input is appreciated. Thanks
You have the right arrow, but you probably don't have the right spine. What you ought to do is bare shaft tune your arrows. Gold Tips are ideal for this because they allow you to add weight to the front and back inserts.
For the same weight bow, 29" arrows, I use a 3555 shaft with a 145 grain point and a supplemental 20 grain weight behind the front insert. Which doesn't mean that's the right setup for you, as bows differ. But I'll bet your current setup is too stiff. So if you don't want to bare shaft tune, you might try using 145 grain points rather than 125 grain points. If that improves things, try the next heavier point up from 145 grains (200 grain?) until things start to get worse.
I'll echo the same thoughts probably need less spine for the longbow. depending on the design of both bow usually the longbow is a little less cut to center on the shelf. I'd add weight to the front of the 35/55 as much as 200 grains if needed. Good thing about these carbons they like weight up front.
