Title: bow form dimensions help
Post by: dinorocks on March 14, 2009, 11:32:00 AM
Thanks for reading my question.

I would like to remove some twists and put a little reflex into an Osage selfbow I'm making.  The bow is now at the floor tillering stage.  Can someone help me with some dimensions for making a form for bending my bow (I plan to use a heat gun)?  I'm assuming I could make the form with a 2x4 or 2x6...  I'm new to this and any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks much!!

Dino

Dino, Here is a pic of my form. I was getting ready to post it on PA and saw others had helped you there.

This form is a 2x4 cut to the profile I wanted and attached to a straight 2x6. I use this one for adding backset, removing twists and straightening side to side and up and down bends.
A simple 2x4 can be used. You will have to cut it to the shape you want if you want it for reflexing.
