Title: would this work on a whip end bow?

Last summer I made a bow from a real character stave, and I came out looking great.  Only problem is, it turned out whip ended.  I don't want to reduce the weight so I had an idea.  I've seen where strips were added to the belly of old wood recurves.  I was wondering if I glued on a thin strip and applied a slight recurve or not, if it would would work.  I would in essence turn it into a static tip bow.
What do you think?

I've never done it.I don't use heat or steam anymore.But if you don't like the way it shoots.You know the old saying noting ventured noting gain.

Pastor you could also cut a kerf across and down the limb and then glue a lamination the same thickness of the saw blade and pull the kerfed area into reflex. It's a good way to stiffen whipy tips without using steam or heat...Glenn...

works just fine and you can use a different color wood and tell everybody you did it on purpose.

I like the different color wood strips.My next bow I may whip tiller my ends and give this a try.Theres aways something ot learn when it comes  to building bows.

Your're right there Roy, I am always looking for something I can learn, I think you could build bows for the rest of your life and always learn something new to learn. Kerfing works well on relfexed tip longbows or any whip ended bow for that matter...Glenn...
