OK I got this Osage stave with very very close rings. They are to close for me to follow, can I back it with brown paper bag? If so can I use TB 111 and do I put it on before I tiller it?

Follow a back ring the best you can. For a situation like this I prefer rawhide backing and you can use TBIII for that. Silk or linen may work here as well. I usually back a bow like this after I get it to floor tiller. You want to do any heat straightening before you back it. Pat

Pat , I picked up some silk today can I use tb 111 to put it on the bow and should it be wrapped?

Yes, you can use the TBIII to put the silk down. It depends on the stiffness of the silk as to whether you need to wrap or not. I usually wet the material before gluing(I think it helps to absorb the glue) and if it drapes nicely over the stave, you shouldn't need to wrap. If it won't stay put on its own then a wrap is in order. I use strips of old bed sheets for wrapping. It's cheat, usually readily available and breaths well so the backing and glue moisture can evaporate.
Put a thin layer of TBIII on the bow's back and let it cure. This will be a moisture barrier so more moisture doesn't get into the wood when backing.

Ok I got the backing on and trimed up. Is that all I do to the back?

Now you treat it like an unfinished bow and do your finish work on it and you are ready to go.
