I know that it would defeat the "all natural" concept in all wood bows but....I was wondering about performance issues. How would the glass react with the bamboo? Would there be any real advantages? Has it been done?
-
Natural schmatural. If you build it, it will shoot. I think the reaction may be explosive.
Some may ask "Why?". I would answer "Because it is there."
Have fun. Make bows.

I have not made that many bows, but I like to push the limits. My friend messed up a bow, I tried to save it, I messed it up and then treid to save it again. In the end it came out to short to narrow, to much deflex and really not very nice looking. It shoots good and just seems happy throwing a heavy arrow. I even made it center shot. This bow was a bamboo backed bamboo with a osage belly. Go for it you may stumble on to something good.

Putting glass on the belly would give you the same results as putting horn or garolite on the belly. They're all stronger in compression than wood and you should see better performance.

What is garolite? I was thinking of a nice veneer under the glass to dress it up a bit too.
What do you think the core thickness and taper should be?
