Post by: Chuck Hoopes on January 17, 2009, 11:12:00 PM
Saw it refered to in an old old thread, and was just wondering-- Is it a self-bow?  What is its design?  Iam always looking for something new, to try and build. Meare Heath style???? Anybody?

The Meare Heath is an ancient bow found in Britain I believe. The limbs are wide most of its length and taper to the tips. Paul Comstock's book "The Bent Stick" talks about this style bow design for white woods and his chapter in TBBII, "Ancient European Bows" will give you some insight into the Meare Heath bows.

pg 106 TBB2 "If the limb width is fairly constant along most of the limbs, you have a bow that mimics the Meare Heath or Asby-Stigtoma design".
