Put the first coat of finish on today. Bow is for my youngest son who just turned 4 in August. It scales at 8@14, and gains about a #1 per inch up to 24".
Riser block, Lams and glass were all bought from KennyM.

SWEET !!!! Wow that is one lucky 4 yr old. Great craftsmanship Tim.

amazing work - nicely done

thanks guys. One thing that I should have kept in mind is the weight of Osage. Even though my son can draw it back, I think the riser is a bit heavy for him to hold up. Time to start some weight training. :)

Super job Tim!!
-
Thanks Kenny, that Osage is beautiful stuff.
-
Excellent looking bow..lucky son! Could you tell me what is sandwiched in the osage riser...looks great

1/4" and 1/16" Linen Phenolic strips from Binghams.

That's a lucky kid for many reasons....the least of which is that his father, the budding bowyer, is now coming to know his true self.
Now....you are about to run out of kids to make bows for.....HINT HINT HINT!!
Good stuff my man Good stuff.
Question....what is the avatar, tat and bow emblem?
-
JT,
The story behind the mask is this; When my son Barrett was born I was looking for a tattoo to symbolize his coming into my life. Being that he and I are bot August babies, the Native American totem animal for that month is the Bear. So I found a sculpted mask online by an artist in the Northwest (avatar), and used it as the basis for my tattoo as well as the button I put on the riser. We call Barrett "Bear" for short, so I guess it has double meaning, but thats the short version or it.
Whats Evan pulling now? I have some nice Cedar lams that I got from Kenny that might work for another light weight bow.
-
Uhhhh....Evan's got plenty a bow.....I was talkin bout yers truly!!!!!!!

LOL. I need to put a form together for the adult size limbs but thats about all I'd need to do. However, I'm getting ready to start doing a form for a static recurve (49' Bear Kodiak replica).
