I have wanted to make a 3 piece longbow for 12 years now but never had the ambition to make another form and go through all of steps neccesary to make a new and unique bow. However this last summer my wife took up shooting and got hooked fast and hard. Within a couple weeks she was shooting not only daily, but multiple times. It was clear to me this was my chance to make a bow for her and of course make my dream bow next. She had been shooting a Bear Cub recurve so a recurve type grip would most likely feel most comfortable. I am partial to that type of grip myself as I have never been able to shoot a bow heal down. I started with Binghams plans for a 68" long bow, but wanted to shorten that up for both of us. I shortened the riser by 2" and shortened each limb by an inch as well making the bow 64". I purchased the limb and riser materials from Kenny McKenzie. He sells a 3 piece riser kit that I liked, all I had to do was glue it up. The riser and limbs are made of Zebrawood and Padauk. The bow she was shooting was 26#, however her 23" draw put it at 22#. The new bow came out at 25# for her draw which was what I was shooting for. Many thanks to Kenny for his personal and prompt service.

Awesome job man! She is a really beautiful bow.

Thank you for all the kind words. This was a pleasure to build as my wife has given me something special a long time ago.
I just noticed I did not have a pic of the overlay on the back of the riser.

I have to tell you I am very much an ameteur at this and encourage anyone with an interest to give it a try. All the info in the world is available right here. You just can't get more enjoyment than seeing your bow in use.

Thanks for the compliments.
She is shooting on my team. Also went to Rib Mnt. with me last weekend. The ladies there were making plans for Compton as well. How about that? She is getting quite a bit of attention with it.
I am in the process of making another one just like it for myself now.
