Title: Look what I found underneath
Post by: sinistral on December 28, 2008, 01:44:00 PM
I thought this was some old longbow that I could have fun with, and learn to finish a bow. I removed the camo paint on the lower limb, and look what I found.  J.K. Chastain's name, now this takes on a different mode. I can't defame this bow with a subpar job. After I finish removing the rest of the paint, is a fine sanding in order?...What grit? ... Then what should I use to seal her back up with?
Thanks Jeff

When I refinished my Bear K-mag, I used 180 then went to 220. Be careful on the edges and when you get into the glass STOP. After a nice smooth sanding job, I hand rubbed True Oil, about 6-8 coats.

Thanks Kenny. How long to dry between coats, and did you sand between coats?
