Title: leather wrapped grip
Post by: bow loving man on December 27, 2008, 07:36:00 PM
I am putting a new grip on one of my longbows and I remember reading here how to use a wide strip of leather and wrap the grip. It had rolled edges and was pretty cool looking...I would like to try this but can not find the topic in my searches of the site...Can anyone help? thanks, BLM

I wet a piece of a leather in vodka, I wind around of the handle, and I fix a rubber tape. The leather takes the form. Then I cut off a joint and I sew up.

Do you drink the left over vodka before or after wrapping the handle... I'd better do it after.  :D

Is this what you are looking to do?

This is a JD Jones Phenom. JD is a master of this type of leather wrap but his instructional site is down. I've watched him do it at OJAM and he makes it look so easy.

(JD's bows aren't just pretty. They will smoke an arrow.)
