Title: Refinish older bow, I have questions
Post by: sinistral on December 24, 2008, 05:34:00 PM
Hi, I am going to try and refinish an older longbow. The former owner had hand painted some camo on it. How should I remove this old paint? I would also like to take it down and not remove info on the bow for weight etc. Any ideas where to start would be very helpful. I figure start with a refinish project, then move onto my own build. Thanks Jeff

If it is a fiberglass and wood bow I would start with some scotch brite and maybe WD-40 to loosen the paint.

Ron, thanks. The WD-40 won't soak into the glass or wood if the finish is still mostly intact right? It looks like a glass backed bow.

WD-40 worries me. It tends to gum up.
