I've been having alot of interest in building a glass longbow lately. Are any of these volumes helpful for a bowyer "wannabe"? I'm not really interested in self bows yet, just glass backed bows. Any other books, videos, etc... that are helpful would be appreciated. I'm making a Christmas list now :)

Traditional Bowyers Bible series only deals with wood bows, unless volume 4 covers them. That's the only one I don't have.

All 4 TBB relate to wood bow archery. Pat

Binghams have a couple of video's they are not bad and will probably be a good starting point for you.

No glass in the TBB's. Wingnut did do a chapter on lam bows w/o glass. jawge

Thanks guys. Anything other than the Binghams videos that I should look into? Thanks again...Mike

"Traditional Bowyers of America", by Dan Bertalan is chocked full of information from many of the best US bowyers of the time it was written. I'm sure a lot has changed since since 1989 but there is plenty of good info about design and construction methods in it. Pat

Traditional Bowyer: More Unnessesary Fun by Jack Harrison has over 700 pages of glass bow know how. it's a little pricey but for how much book you get, it's worth it.

I've yet to see a book for glass bowyers that covers the craft. I've seen plenty of books that showcase various glass bowyers (it's like reading a book of advertisements). Seems like they don't like to share their secrets.
More Unnecessary Fun by Jack Harrison seems to be the exception, but I've never read it. At $75, I assume Jack hand-scribed every book on vellum. :p
