Title: need stringer for bows over 80#
Post by: bawana bowman on November 01, 2008, 02:23:00 PM
All the stringers I've been buying lately say "not recommended for bows over 80#." Does anyone know where I can obtain stringers for both longbows and recurves up to 100#? I would think maybe someone on this site can make them, or already does. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   :help:    :help:

I can't tell you where to buy one,but here's how to make one.
Wallmart,1" black strap,8 to 10"slonger than bow, turn ends back 1" on one 1/2 on other, super glue them down sides, sew sides with fake sinew super glue the sinew sides. On matter what poundage I can't tell you that one.But you never string a bow strong enough to pull the ends lose.
Get pair of leather ends from one your 80 pound stringers and add a bigger string between them.

I built a 95# war bow and just made an extra string to use as a stringer. I put 2 sets of string grooves in the horn nock; the outside grooves for the stringer.
