im lookin to make a cheap yet functional back/side quiver. Id really like to build one that you pull the arrows out of the side like this one: (http://www.3riversarchery.com/images/large/6204.jpg)
If anyone has made one before or knows how can you please let me know how to do so. Any input is greatly appreciated
The quiver I hunt follows the "great plains" quiver you see in the traditional bowyers bible, but with a hole cut in the side near the bottom to pull my arrows from. I also shortened the strap to hang more like a traditional back quiver. Mine is buffalo hide, but I'm sure with imagination you could find something more affordable that works as well. good luck
one of the more clever but cheap approaches to this I've seen, if you just want practical, was a guy who used a section of light pvc tubing. If you wanted to fancy it up just a might, you could glue on a cover of camo fabric.
and Tunkel... I use a Lakota type quiver since I'm unable to reach above my shoulder. I ran out several of them from upholstery leather a couple of years ago. I think I'll try your hole in the side idea on one. Thanks

I've seen that at practices...but that would be kind of loud for hunting wouldn't it?

Jeff,
That black side quiver is just awesome. Fine work my friend.

Here's one somebody sent me a link to - I've been meaning to build it but never have.

Here's mine:

It's just a map tube with a hole and a wood plug in one end that I covered with camo fabric. Pretty easy to do.
Still...wouldn't it be pretty loud with the arrows banging up against that plastic?
